What can you do to help?

It may seem daunting to think about how to combat decades of corruption and pollution regarding our oceans, but change must start from somewhere, and we must not let the shortcomings of our past continue to harm the waters of this planet. Below are some of the simple things you can do to make a huge difference.

First and foremost, It is essential that the amount of littering is reduced to zero. Establishing and maintaining consequences such as hefty fines are also ways the public can be discouraged from throwing trash on beaches. Doing this can protect wildlife and allow biodiversity to flourish. Besides, I am sure you would not want your home to be filled with heaps of trash.

Another action you can actually do straight home, or really when you use any establishment is to not use excessive water. When you shower, make sure you are not leaving the water running for over half an hour. Try not to take long washing your hands either, just some soap and at least twenty seconds under the water should do the trick.

Lastly, attend a beach cleanup once in a while! It is a great way to get involved with your community and make friends while you make a difference. One must be proactive in not littering while also making sure that others are not littering as well. Of course, we cannot control the actions of everyone, so we must do our part to ensure beaches are clean so that waste is not going into our oceans and animals are not getting tangled up in heaps of plastic.
